The Old and the New: Chronicles of Narnia

Considering the technology and improvement of special effects teams, I’d say the newer versions of the Chronicle of Narnia series are way better than the old one. I have watched the old Chronicles (UK TV series now on DVD) — The Lion, Witch, and The Wardrobe, Prince Caspian, The Silver Chair, and even the very long The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. For the newer versions, only The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe has been released (and Prince Caspian is coming soon). But I only had to watch the first installment to know that the movie (new) versions are really going to be fantastic.

The Cast and the Acting

One reason why the new Narnia is better than the old Narnia is the cast and the acting. Maybe time blesses us with more talent as it goes by, because, while it the performances of the actors and actresses in the new Narnia has its flaws, it is still more convincing than the performances of the actors and actresses in the old. Not to mention, the youngest Pevensie in the old Narnia doesn’t look like the youngest. I couldn’t find any pictures of Lucy Pevensie from the original. But just picture out a bigger and fatter version of the new Lucy, and a girl taller than her older brother Edmund.

Behind the Scenes

Considering that fantasy movies weren’t carried out all that well back in the 1990’s, I think it’s safe to say that the Chronicle of Narnia movies of today are far more better than the British TV serial in terms of directing, cinematography, and effects. The reason? It comes with the times and the development of technology, I’m sure.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is all that is going to be compared with the Chronicles of Narnia TV serial for now, as that is all that is available… for now. But it seems that Prince Caspian and the other sequels are lining up to greet us. The Prince Caspian poster is out now, and we’re just waiting got the trailer to come out and confirm when the movie will be out on theaters.
